The JamFactory folk blog about studio practice, training and apprenticeships in the Pathways Blog.
The JamFactory has four professional studios - hot glass, ceramics, metal design and a furniture design studio which is currently operating as an access studio; as well as a number of tenant studios, two Gallery spaces, two award winning retail shops, and administration, marketing and sales departments.
The JamFactory is housed in a purpose-built facility in Adelaide's West End arts precinct and is part of the Lion Arts Centre, which includes Craftsouth, the Experimental Art Foundation, Media Resource Centre, Mercury Cinema, Nexus Multicultural Arts Centre, Parrallelo and Leigh Warren and Dancers.
The University of South Australia is in the vicinity, as is the Roma Mitchell Arts Education centre which has re-located to the area.
Career Development Scheme
The JamFactory offers a limited number of positions each year to emerging practitioners to join one of four studios and take part in the JamFactory's professional Career Development Scheme.
Under the guidance of the creative directors, the scheme provides an environment which will assist designer/makers to apply and refine technical, design and business skills to help them establish financially and culturally viable careers. Each Associate must make a commitment to participate for the duration of the two year program, which commences in February of each year.
Craft Australia gratefully acknowledges the financial assistance it receives from the Australia Council for the Arts, the Australian government's arts funding and advisory body.
